Light in a dark gloomy place a poem by Ken Tittle

As the judge passed down the sentence

there came the shedding of tears.

Then the feeling of steel locking around your wrist,

as you are counting from months to years.

No kiss goodbye no see you soon,

as they shuffle you toward the door.

The family and loved ones with broken hearts,

as your staring at the floor.

The unknown place you will be taken,

running through your head.

The comfortable nights you had at home,

are now a small steel bed.

As I entered the pod and saw all the men,

who are broken and shattered and drowning in sin.

In my head was a voice as loud as a gun.

It said your path brought you here now there is work to be done.

Your testimony is strong, and your faith is too.

Just keep in my word and let your heart stay true.

I'll give you strength on your journey, keep your eyes on my face.

You will be a light to lead them from a dark gloomy place.

So just be still and listen to the Father up above.

And be a good example of faith, hope and love.

                           the end
